South Dakota’s cattle industry is strongest when we stand together. The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association (SDCA) works every day to protect producers, strengthen our industry, and address issues impacting the cattle business.

Your membership gives you a voice. When you join SDCA, you’re claiming your seat at the table where decisions are made. Together, we advance the interests of cattlemen and women while building opportunities for the next generation of ranchers with policy created by cattlemen, for cattlemen.

SDCA’s strength comes from our members. Every member’s voice adds momentum. We are committed to working for you and defending the future of South Dakota’s cattle industry, but we can’t do it alone.

Join SDCA today and stand with fellow producers to keep our industry strong for generations to come.

SDCA’s policy process begins and ends with individual members.

As a grassroots organization, South Dakota cattle producers drive the direction of SDCA’s advocacy in Pierre and Washington, D.C.

Members shape that work by submitting policy resolutions individually or through their county associations. Those resolutions are brought forward at the Annual Convention, where policy committees review and debate each proposal.

Approved resolutions move through the formal resolutions process and then come before the full membership for a vote at the Annual Meeting.

Any policy adopted by the membership becomes official SDCA policy for five years. After that time, policies are reviewed to ensure they remain relevant. This process allows members to reaffirm, amend, or sunset them as needed.

This grassroots structure ensures that cattle producers from every sector and every corner of South Dakota have a voice in guiding SDCA’s priorities.
